I’ve been attending Saskatoon’s MoSo Conference for the last few years and am really impressed with its evolution. Tagged as Canada’s Mobile and Social Conference, MoSo is in its fifth year as it continues to bring in some of the world’s most influential speakers in mobile marketing, social strategy and digital communication. I’ve been fortunate to hear some really amazing talks and have gone home feeling inspired and full of new found insight and purpose. I also love how MoSoFest has taken almost a life of its own with with its standalone music festival which adds a great dynamic of music to the technology. I look forward to MoSo every year but this year is slightly different.
This year at MoSo FIVE, I, Bernie Hernando, along with Patio Social‘s Megan Halkett, are pleased to have been asked to join the line up of speakers to present… A SOCIAL MEDIA CASE STUDY ON WOLFCOP! We will tell you all about how a small Saskatchewan team took a campy, indie film idea like WolfCop and took it to an international market to become a social media phenomenon with over 18 million impressions and counting! Connecting with WolfCop fans has been one of the most rewarding parts of this whole experience. We first experienced our first comic convention in Calgary of 2012 when we had to get the word out about our then, proof-of-concept feature during the Cinecoup campaign. The response was pleasantly overwhelming as WolfCop quickly raised eyebrows and generated a ton of curiosity. It was fantastic meeting and talking with people who have mutual interests and more importantly, getting their feedback. Since then, we have attended comic conventions across Canada promoting WolfCop and every single expo has been worth it!
In any venture, it is very important to know who your audience is. It’s crucial to go out and talk to people about it, whether online or in person. Knowing your audience’s needs and expectations will help you craft your strategy. Being social will help you to set specific goals, allow you to be more tactical in your overall marketing strategy and will give you insight that you can’t find on the Internet or otherwise. Remember, social is a two-way street, so make sure you’re asking the right questions but also pay attention to what they have to say. They are ultimately the decision makers and determine whether if you’re successful or not, so you probably want to know what makes them tick and what keeps them happy.

On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda was one of the most devastating typhoons to ever hit land. Tacloban City, as well as many towns, villages, and communities in the Visayas regions of the Philippines were severely victimized. Thousands of casualties and millions impacted, the world came to help.
This music video was shot as part of The Balikbayan Project to help lift the spirits of the Filipino people. Shot and directed by Rob Hillstead. Produced by Echolands and Qi Creative.
The Smalls are back together for a short time and are currently touring across Canada in a van, selling out shows like they did back in the day! If you’ve never heard of The Smalls, don’t be too surprised. They were an Albertan underground hard rock/punk band in the late 80s to mid 90s … but its hard to define a genre as they were so musically talented as they covered many different styles of music, bur definitely appealed to the Western Prairie audience.
With a large dedicated fanbase, a documentary is being produced to capture the band’s journey back to the stage. It was funded by Kickstarter having doubled their funding goal! As fans of the band since their inception, we wanted to help out and contribute to this project however we could!
So we did.
We are pleased to be Associate Producers on The Smalls: Forever Is A Long Time. Had the opportunity to meet and work with Producer John Kerr (Crowsnest Films) as we shot some concert RED footage from The Smalls concert for the doc while here in Regina.
